Bastion is getting an HD Re-release on Xbox One!

Bastion was a very special game. Everything from the incredible combat controls, to the hypnotic story told through real time narration, to the crazy way the isometric map formed around you as you progressed through the game. It had a beautifully hand drawn feel pallet, don’t even get me started with how beautiful this game feels. When you played Bastion for the first time, you knew you were in something that was unique. It came out during a time I feel is considered a “golden age” for indie devs, and because of that, it was incredibly influential and encouraging to aspiring developers of the day. It became such a massive success after its initial Xbox 360 run that you can find it now on pretty much every other platform.

Now, a little over five years after its initial release, Supergiant Games has announced they are re-releasing Bastion for Xbox One. Coming to the Xbox One store December 12, and rather than going the traditional and easy route of making it backwards compatible, Supergiant claims they have “re-built” the game to make it “feel native to the platform.” Among the features of this new version, we can expect the following:

  • 1080p Visuals

  • Brand New Achievements

  • Access to the Stranger’s Dream DLC, which was unavailable during the game’s initial launch.

Bastion for Xbox One releases December 12th. It will be $14.99 in the Xbox Games Store, and will be free for owners of the original game until January 1st, 2017. Merry Christmas to us!
