At Sony\’s E3 Showcase, they started strong by showing their big guns. A new God of War reveal!
Personally, I\’d checked out on the God of War franchise a long time ago, but this refreshing new take appears to be a huge step in a different direction. Gone are the linear pathways and classic \”Square, Square, Triangle\” combos. Instead, we are being treated to what appears to be a more open world, survival combat oriented experience. Neat, huh?
The story sets us in a world (most likely filled with mythological Norse creatures trying their hardest to kill you at every turn) with an aged Kratos. He\’s apparently put his dead family behind him finally and has produced more offspring. The kid has terrible aim, I might add.
What\’s nice about this is as often as the previous God of War titles tried to make you feel something for Kratos, it was just never there. He was always just a combo-death machine. This reboot could actually make you engaged in Kratos well being.
…And lets not forget; no reboot is complete without aged and weathered versions of the series\’ famed protagonist.
That is one beautiful beard.
Personally, I\’m jazzed that Sony Santa Monica aren\’t sticking with the tried and true (but also stale) formula that has dominated the series for a decade. What about you? Could you hop in the shoes (or sandals) of the body painted god slayer once more?
