Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Bundle incoming!

After recent rumors surfaced regarding the game\’s re-release, it\’s finally confirmed. Today at Comic-Con, Marvel announced that a release of the Marvel Ultimate Alliance series for current gen consoles is not only true, but is happening on Tuesday (7/26)!

The games will be available to download separately on Steam, PS4 and Xbox One for $39.99 or as a bundle for $59.99. That might sound pretty steep for a series of games that came out almost a decade ago, but trust me, they\’re THAT good.

For those of you who aren\’t familiar, the Marvel Ultimate Alliance series is a beat-em-up genre that puts Marvel\’s mighty stable of super heroes in your control. It was developed by Raven Software, who now (unfortnately) focuses exclusively on Call Of Duty. You select a team of heroes, changeable at any time of course, and pummel your way through hordes of baddies. The first game offers an original story, while the second tries to follow the path of the popular Civil War story line. Though neither were quite as wonderful as their younger brother, X-Men: Legends, the games have more than enough legs to stand on.

I\’ve been a huge proponent of these games since they released and have hoped for a proper sequel for years. Hope has been a bit lost since the release of the Marvel Heroes MMO-RPG series, which essentially offers the same thing, just on a \”Give us all your money\” platform. The post dictates that there are not huge changes, although some tweaks have been made to update visuals and make a better overall experiences. Also, it\’s not abundantly clear by the announcements, but one could imagine these games would also include the DLC hero packs which were pretty revolutionary for early day DLC offerings.

If you\’re a fan of Marvel heroes, this game offers fan service that was pretty unparalleled for a game of its kind back in the day. If you\’re a fan of local co-op, you can team up with a buddy and smash the baddies together. If you\’re a fan of RPG\’s, you will LOVE the use of costumes and XP based leveling to customize your team.

Between this, Telltale games upcoming Batman adventure and the announcement of Insomniac Game\’s developing a Spider-Man game, 2016 has been pretty decent for fans of super heroes!
