That\’s right! The long awaited Hype Machine – Space Exploration – Childhood Fantasy Simulator, No Man\’s Sky is now live for pre-orders. Since the reveal of NMS at the VGX show in 2013, excitment and anticipation has exploded throughout the gaming community.

I don\’t want to throw cliche out in the wild, but if you haven\’t heard about this game, you probably have been living under a rock. No Man\’s Sky has been building steam for some time. Such a long time in fact, that skeptics have come into the scene, (admittedly, I am one of them) claiming the game won\’t live up to the hype people are building in their brains. But gosh.. Look at it!

The game has largely been shrouded in mystery and rumors, with developer Hello Games being vague on details and gameplay. What they have confirmed is if you\’re looking for a typcial, action-packed AAA experience, you may want to look elsewhere. This game looks to be a science fiction wet dream of exploration, calling back to some of my favorite authors Sci-fi like Heinlein.

On June 21 (June 22 for you European Playstation owners), the game will see a simulatenous release on both PS4 and PC for the standard price of 59.99. If you have some extra cash flow, you can head over to iam8bit, and get your hands on a fancy collectors edition. Dubbed, \”Exlplorer\’s edition.\” The collecible will be part of a 10,000 limited run, and will run you $149.99. Interestingly, it\’s a PC only offering, which I find strange considering the amount of backing Sony has put into this thing.

I\’m not a fan of pre-orders, but that ship replica sure is a temptress.

What do you think? Is this a day one pick up for you? Are you going to opt-in for a nice little shelf ornament? Or, does exploring an entire galaxy, finding life and danger at every turn not sound like your idea of a good time?

I'm unabashedly in love with Nintendo; ESPECIALLY Zelda! Spelunky is my jam. Burritos are life.
