Recap 1.15.16

This week Kickstart goals were met and piracy has been thwarted for the time being on certain PC games. Let\’s dive in!

PlayStation

  • The original PS2 game Psychonauts will release on PS4 this Spring. According to Double Fine it has not been determined if the title will be a PS2 classic or an enhanced version with trophy support. With Sony hyping up Psychonauts 2, I\’m willing to bet it will be an enhanced port.
  • Speaking of Psychonauts 2 the game has been fully funded at 3.8 million and according to the post on the PlayStation Blog it will be out in a few years.
  • Not a Hero will release on PS4 February 2, 2016 for $12.99. It\’s also been cancelled on PS Vita. Damn.

  • You can now sign up for beta access to Paragon here

Xbox

  • Today they unveiled the Xbox One “Tom Clancy’s The Division” Bundle, which features a 1TB hard drive and a full-game download of “Tom Clancy’s The Division.” Fans in the U.S. that pre-order the bundle will also receive guaranteed early access to the closed beta launching on Jan. 28. Bundle will be available March 1, 2016.

Nintendo

  • The Pokémon Company announced they will air a commercial during Super Bowl 50 on February 7. Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow will be released on the eShop for the 3DS family of consoles. There will also be a new Nintendo 3DS bundle with Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version pre-installed, two unique cover plates featuring artwork from the original Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version game boxes and the Pokémon 20th logo, and a download code for an exclusive Nintendo 3DS Pokémon HOME Menu theme. The commemorative New Nintendo 3DS bundle will be available on February 27 at retail locations.

Misc Gaming

  • Amazon launched yet another benefit for Prime members— 20% off of video game preorders and games purchased within the first two weeks of release. Members also get free launch day shipping like before. The discount is automatically applied at checkout and can be used on standard, limited, and special editions of games but not games bundled with consoles.

  • According to 3DM, a Chinese forum for pirates, Just Cause 3 utilizes a new DRM known as Denuvo which is also used in FIFA 16 and has yet to be cracked. They claim it also doesn\’t look hopeful either. Sorry pirates!

  • EA has announced Origin Access which is basically what EA Access on Xbox One is and gives players the ability to play the games offered endlessly. It launches in the U.S., Canada, UK and Germany and will be coming soon to more countries.

  • The team behind LIFE IS STRANGE and PACER encourage their communities to use the hashtag #EverydayHeroes  to share their stories about overcoming adversity, standing up for what’s right, helping a friend in need, and more. For every post using the hashtag #EverydayHeroes from January 13 to January 19th, Square Enix will make a donation to PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center. To highlight the heroes all around us, these stories will also be featured online at everydayheroes.lifeisstrange.com.

  • The next title in the Hitman series will now be entirely episodic starting with a Prologue Mission and a Paris location on March 11th, followed by the next location, set in Italy releasing in April and then Morocco releasing in May. From there Hitman will deliver regular monthly content updates, including three additional locations; Thailand, the US and Japan until the season concludes in Japan later in 2016. With weekly live events and additional planned content in between the monthly updates.

  • Perhaps the weirdest gaming news comes from Jon St. John, the guy who voices Duke Nukem. On Facebook he said he was contacted to do voiceover work for a Donald Trump ad campaign and had this to say:

\”I don\’t like to turn down jobs…especially when it\’s a national ad campaign that pays pretty well. But I have a conscience and could not accept a gig to be the advertising voice of the Republican party\’s leading candidate for president. Thanks for the kind offer, but I will sleep just fine at night knowing I made a choice I can live with.\”
Yeah baby!
