Industry News

  • A big update to Overwatch came out this past week and it’s in the Halloween spirit. Daney ha a full write up here with the details.

  • Ubisoft announced it’s upcoming PC brawler, For Honor, is losing local multiplayer, which is something we mentioned a week or so back because it was a big deal. The company cites overall game quality as the deciding factor

  • Atari co-founder Nolan Bushnell has launched a VR company, Modal VR, that makes both HTC and Oculus look like child’s play. It’s completely wireless, low latency (under 10 milliseconds) and accommodates multiple users in areas as large as 900,000 square feet. There are full body tracking suits, to boot. Instead of limiting you to sit-down or room-scale VR, developers could create immersive experiences that fill whole fields and warehouses.

  • Valve’s Jeff Bellinghausen announced native controller support for the DualShock 4 in Steam. According to Bellinghausen the DS4 will use the same API as Steam’s own controller because there is much overlap between the two. Since release, Sony’s DS4 has seen a growing userbase on PC and the official addition to Steam will only boot it’s fanbase even further.

  • On October 17 you’ll be able to download a demo for World of Final Fantasy

  • As if Curt Shilling didn’t get himself in enough hot water with his whole failed gaming studio, the outspoke ex baseball star took to Fox Business to defend Donald Trump’s recent remarks about women. What pieces of shit.

  • Pokémon GO had some features added in a recent update. Players can now bring six Pokémon to battle at friendly Gyms as well as earn a catch bonus for a Pokémon type when catching more of that type.
