Miscellaneous Gaming

  • Square Enix sent us a nice little email telling us to inform you that they’re selling a digital mystery box of over $80 worth of games for $10. You can check out the deal here which is for PC players only is only valid until 12/17.

  • In other news the fine team at Bethesda announced they’re opening another studio in Montreal in order to \”expand its development capabilities in console, PC, and mobile gaming.\” AKA Fallout Shelter was a massive god damn hit. Can’t say I blame them and in a time where a lot of studios are sadly closing their doors, it’s nice to see that others studios can expand.

  • Speaking of Bethesda, a new patch bringing Fallout 4 to version 1.2 fixes a ton of nasty bugs. You can read more on the official forum post.

  • Tom Clancy’s The Division was originally planned to have a beta by the end of December 2015 but Ubisoft broke the news that it would miss this deadline and instead release an alpha for those who preordered the title on Xbox One. There will be a closed beta some time in 2016 with the game still slated to release March 2016.

  • Popular PC indie title Gone Home will release on PS4 January 12 after the project was delayed for financial reasons

  • Nintendo announced the final Nintendo Direct for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS on December 15at 2pm Pacific / 5pm Eastern / 10pm UK and 11pm CET, with Masahiro Sakurai hosting. One of the biggest reveals of the November Direct was Final Fantasy\’s Cloud as an upcoming DLC character, so it\’s no surprise that he\’ll feature this time as well. Fans are also desperate to learn about the rest of the roster, in particular any remaining winners from the Fighter Ballot that closed earlier in the year.

  • In other Nintendo news Minecraft is finally making it’s way to Wii U after every possible platform I can think of (OUYA?). Even still it’s big news and will be priced at $29.99 including a bunch of free add-on packs with more available for purchase. Nintendo and Mojang are also collaborating on Nintendo specific content.

  • Square Enix announced that they’ll be splitting the Final Fantasy VII remake into multiple parts. Here is a statement taken from director Yoshinori Kinase from Dengeki Online:

<

p>“From the beginning, we thought a Final Fantasy VII remake would be bigger than a single release. There would be things we’d have to put into a shortened compilation,” Tetsuya Nomura, FFVII’s character designer, added. “Since we thought there would be stuff we would probably have to pare down and supplemental things we probably couldn’t add, we decided to divide it up, concluding that we have to do a remake that’s fully packed with content.”

In other words, each installment should be jam packed with all kinds of FF VII lore both original and that which has been previously unexplored…..

  • A game I’m super pumped for is coming to the Xbox One Preview Program early—Ark Survival Evolved! It will launch at $34.99 for those who wish to dive in early, bugs and all. But they’ll also automatically have the full retail released version when it launches without any upgrade fee. Not a bad deal and one I’m certainly on top of.

That\’s a wrap for this week! Have a good weekend everybody! <3
