PlayStation

  • Sony has decided to close down Rigs developer Guerilla Cambridge. The team is also responsible for titles like Killzone Mercenary on Vita and have been developing games for the PlayStation over the past two decades. It’s sad to see another European developer close their doors.

  • Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the few games I’m really looking forward to this year—and it’s only a little over a month away! Here’s a new cinematic story trailer to indulge in.

  • Wanna beta test PS4 firmware 4.50? While we don’t have any details about added features, Sony is taking registrations for the next iteration of the software here.

  • Earlier this week, after swirling rumors of troubled development, Microsoft has cancelled Platinum Games’ Scalebound. Personally, it was the only Xbox exclusive title I’ve been looking forward to for the past couple of years now.

Industry News

  • BioWare general manager Aaryn Flynn told a fan on Twitter that Mass Effect Andromeda will not have a season pass and hat the company will share it’s plans for future content at a later date.

  • Steam reached a new milestone since its launch with 14.2 million simultaneous users this past Saturday.

  • ESEA, a popular esports community for Counter Strike is recovering from a massive hack that leaked the usernames, emails, private messages, phone numbers, and IP addresses for over 1.5 million users after the site failed to pay the hacker $100,000. You can read more about it here.

  • According to an interview game director Tetsuya Nomura said fans shouldn’t expect the Final Fantasy VII remaster or Kingdom Hearts III in 2017.

  • You can now buy Binding of Issac Rebirth on iOS for a cool $14.99. I love the folks at Team Meat, but uh, good luck with that.

  • After over a decade in development, Square Enix announced Final Fantasy XV sales have exceeded 6 million across all platforms, including digital sales.

  • King of Fighters XIV has been updated to version 1.10 bringing significant graphical upgrades and more.
