Falcom has dropped a demo for the hotly anticipated latest entry in the long running Trails series, Trails Through Daybreak. Yours truly has become really into the series, however, being a new father means I don’t have time to complete the 100+ hour campaign each game takes—and there are a lot!
I finished the first of the Cold Steel arc and played about 40-50 hours of the second followed by watching YouTube videos to catch me up to speed on the Trails of Cold Steel II while I hopped into III. I’ll go back and beat them one day, especially thanks to owing them on Steam, but that’s no time soon.
This is why Trails Through Daybreak is such a big deal for both fans and newcomers alike. It’s the beginning of an entirely fresh narrative complete with new characters. Falcom has also spruced up the visuals and, while it still won’t win any awards in the graphics department, retains that signature Falcom look I love. The demo is out now on PS4 and is playable on PS5 thanks to backwards compatibility along with Switch. This beefy demo covers the prologue plus chapter one and players are able to transfer their progress into the full game.
