Nintendo News: NX Release confirmed, also some Zelda stuff, and some other stuff.

Nintendo released an earnings report again. Inside, you will find numbers. Numbers claiming Splatoon was a hit, numbers claiming Mario Maker is killing it, numbers boasting Miitomo\’s explosive success out of the gate. Alongside these fluffy numbers to keep investors happy, you will find some news. Let\’s check it out!

I hope you didn\’t buy a Wii U exclusively for Zelda, friends. In a move that should surpise absolutely nobody, Nintendo announced the newest Legend of Zelda title, originally slated for a Wii U release last year, has been pushed to 2017 and will release simulatneously on Wii U and Nintendo\’s upcoming console, codenamed NX. Every Zelda since Ocarina of Time has been delayed to some degree, but this news feels more like nails in the coffin of the wildy unpopular Wii U. Apparently, it will be the only game palyable on the show floor at E3. I love my Wii U dearly, and spend a majority of my console time with the thing, but with Zelda being pushed back another year, I\’m left wondering what Nintendo has left with which to promote the little box.I hope its not more half hearted ports like Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash

Speaking of NX, though, here is something on a lighter note: NX finally has a release window!
The next flag ship console will release sometime in March (happy birthday to me), and after rumors that multiple games currently in development for Wii U have been pushed to the new console, lets hope it has a strong line up out of the gate. Nintendo sorely needs to get this right.

In 3DS news, the company tried to boast fluffy numbers to make the console seem relevant, but also pointed out slipping sales, due to a lack of popular titles like Super Smash Brothers and Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, relased the previous year. The next entry in the Pokemon series, Sun and Moon, are listed as Winter 2016 releases. Not surprising given there isn\’t much else they\’ve said about Christmas season. This summer you can look foward to a new Kirby game, as well as Metroid Prime: Federation Force. I\’ve already expressed my excitement for the latter title, here.

In mobile news, we also know the next two entries in Nintendo\’s mobile line up will be based on Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing. I\’m not a huge fan of free to play games and the way the freemium market soils the experience; so let\’s hope Nintendo doesnt take Animal Crossing and smash it to the ground with in app purchases. I\’m not too worried though, as they\’ve stated many times their mobile market is designed to encourage console play, not replace it.

I'm unabashedly in love with Nintendo; ESPECIALLY Zelda! Spelunky is my jam. Burritos are life.
