More Details on Watch Dogs 2

After watching the reveal I\’m actually cautiously optimistic for Ubisoft\’s sequel after what happened with the original Watch Dogs. Post release, the original Watch Dogs arguably failed to deliver on most, if not all, of what it promised gamers. Hacking was simplistic, driving was a chore, and Aiden had the personality of my morning dump. Don\’t even get me started on the significantly scaled down visuals. And everyone thought the Killzone 2 pre-rendered footage was bad.

Anyway.

The team at Ubisoft really seem like they took all the feedback both positive and negative to heart and really addressed the glaring issues with the first game. I\’ve come up with a list of improvements and new details.

  • As Marcus you will have new toys at your disposal. These include a two wheeled RC vehicle that can jump and is equipped with a robotic arm as well as a drone that will enable a first person view as you scout the city from the air.

  • You\’re going to be able to traverse the city much easier thanks to Marcus\’s improved parkour skills.

  • Your primary weapon is a nifty DIY piece of kit consisting of a billard ball attached to rope. Ouch.

  • As technology has evolved, so has DedSec. You\’ll now have the ability to 3D print your own weapons in the game out of metal and upgrade them.

  • You can now hack all the things. Ubisoft is claiming just about anyone and anything will be hackable. Need a getaway car? Just walk up to one, hack it, and it\’s yours. Did you just commit a heinous crime and need to pin it on someone? Well now you\’ll be able to hack other people and pin the blame on them. Neat!

  • Run and gun. The choice is yours. If that\’s not your style then you\’ll be able to take a more stealthy approach using your provided stun gun. If geeking out is more your style then you\’ll be happy to hear you can use you hacking skills to get the job done all from the soft glow of your smartphone.
