Pokémon GO is Getting Quests and Nintendo Patents a Wario Land Game

  • Area 35 previously announced that Tiny Metal would be getting multiplayer functionality. Today, the studio confirmed that the feature will be added as a free update sometime in May.

  • Pokémon GO is receiving a storyline, quests, and more. Niantic describes how it will work below.

    ”Trainers will begin receiving research tasks later this week, adding new activities and challenges that can be completed for in-game rewards. Some of these rewards will lead Trainers to access unique storylines that include discovering the mystery behind the Mythical Pokémon Mew.

  • Nintendo has filed several new trademarks for “downloadable videogame programs” in Japan. Most of them are for titles we know have upcoming releases like Smash Bros and Luigi’s Mansion. But the odd one is Wario Land, which currently has no new game announced.

  • Floor Kids has been updated to version 1.8.1 with improvements like video capture and a new practice dance mode. The full list of improvements is below.

    • Added video capture support! Share your groove with the world!
      • New! practice “Infinity” dance mode. Access from the Extras menu.
      • Replay the tutorial from Extras menu.
      • Rewatch cutscenes from Extras menu.
      • Added an audio latency calibration tool to the Options menu.
      • Improved Breakdeck card switching animation when selected.
      • Added HD rumble effects on Freeze and Power moves.
      • Improved combo achievement visuals.
      • Improved Multiplayer and Infinity Mode track selection.

  • Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is coming to Xbox One April 10. Those who pre-order, can save 10% off.

  • Xbox Games Pass (Microsoft’s Netflix-style games service) is adding some additional games in April. They are the following:
    • Cities: Skylines
    • theHunter: Call of the Wild
    • Kingdom: New Lands
    • Portal Knights
    • ClusterTruck
    • Sacred Citadel
    • Late Shift

  • Speaking at this week’s GDC in San Francisco, studio Nightdive announced their crowd-funded remake of System Shock, which went on hiatus earlier this year, has been pushed back to a tentative 2020 release window. Their reasoning is an expanded scope with new ideas which got away from the dev team.

  • PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is getting its newest batch of cosmetic items: the game’s first-ever weapon skins, PUBG Corp, announced today.

  • Digital Extremes’ 2012 shooting game The Darkness 2 is free over at Humble Bundle for the next day or so. Mac and Windows PC owners can grab the game, for keeps, so long as they have an account with Humble Bundle.
