Recap 5.27.16

Reviews

  • We don’t have any reviews for the week. I worked hard on the 2.0 design of the site (in case you haven’t noticed) and am currently playing through TMNT Mutants in Manhattan. I uploaded a Bebop boss battle video. I’m also playing Downwell on Vita and oh my god is it addicting.

Notable Game Releases

  • Overwatch
  • TMNT Mutants in Manhattan
  • Downwell

PlayStation

  • Sony has sold more than 40 million PS4 consoles worldwide

  • Uncharted 4 has sold through more than 2.7 million copies in it’s first week of release

Nintendo

  • Pokémon fans will get a second chance to download Mew. You can register through the Trainer Club to with codes set to be emailed June 1.

  • E3 goers will be able to play two new extended demos for Zelda on Wii U. Nintendo is recommending players set aside an hour to an hour and a half to play through both demos

Industry News

  • Pac-Man 256 is making its way to PS4 and Xbox One. The enhanced port of the mobile title will have four player local co-op (whaaaaaaaaatttttt?!?!) and will ditch the free to play model in favor of a $4.99 price tag.

  • Tom Clancy’s The Division released a 1.2 update with some pretty big changes. You can read about them on their site here, that is, if you still play.

  • Deep Silver has angered many fans of the upcoming Mighty No 9 by releasing a really shitty trailer. Who the hell thought wisecracks like “combo on combo action” and “make your enemies cry worse than anime fans on prom night” were funny? No one. Not a single person. It currently has almost 17k down votes on YouTube. It sure has the game’s head developer, Takuya Aizu, quite enraged. He took to Twitter to call the trailer “horrible” and “unforgivable”. Oh, and then there’s Sega. God do I fucking love Sega’s PR team lately.

Rumors

  • According to a post on Polygon, Microsoft will announce two new Xboxes at E3 with one of them releasing this year

  • We know Nintendo’s next home console, codenamed NX, will launch March 2017. However, new rumors suggest the big N is also working on a new handheld codenamed MH. If that’s true it kind of makes the new 3DS feel like the GameBoy Color.

  • A new animated series based on famed game character Mega Man will release next year
