  • Fans of Minecraft can try out Minecraft for VR, developed by Microsoft and Oculus, for free at their local Microsoft Store.

  • Lost Odyssey, Toy Story 3, and Guwange are now compatible with Xbox One

Nintendo

  • During a recent interview with GameSkinny, Nintendo of Canada communications manager Andrew Collins made a point to start off saying that he would not discuss Nintendo NX whatsoever. I’m sure the man is sick of people asking (and we’re sick of waiting) but it seems Nintendo doesn’t want any mention of NX at all. The big N requested the site remove that snippet of the conversation to which GameSkinny complied. You can read that snippet here.

  • Ubisoft’s CEO sings praises for the still bafflingly abscent NX once again. This time at a shareholers meeting by saying, “I believe Nintendo will be back in the race with the NX”.

Industry News

  • Minecraft’s Windows 10, Pocket, and Gear VR editions will receive an upgrade on October 18 which will introduce Add-Ons. These will let you change how characters and objects behave by tweaking text files. Want giant chickens, or Creepers that trigger huge explosions? Now you can make it happen.

  • Choice Provisions, developers of the Bit.Trip series, confirmed a third entry is in the works and that they’re going to be very open about the development.

  • The folks at Playtonic announced Shovel Knight will be joining the cast in their upcoming title Yooka-Laylee.

  • Campo Santo announced a film adaptation of indie hit Firewatch is in the works

  • Highly acclaimed indie darling Hyper Light Drifter just got an update that adds a newcomer difficulty, boss rush mode, and a frame rate boost across the board

  • Michel Ancel, creator of Beyond Good & Evil, teased a possible sequel on his official Instagram. To add fuel to the fire Ubisoft’s official twitter account linked to his tweet and told fans to “follow Ascel closely” . He also recently teased this concept art on his Instagram as well.

  • Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky is under investigation by U.K. agency the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) regarding how the developer marketed the game on the Steam

  • According to Kotaku’s Jason Schreier Activision and Bungie want Destiny 2 to be a completely different game, possibly leaving all characters from the Destiny behind. His sources also echoed previous rumors of a PC release and Bungie employees told Schreier Destiny 2 will be similar to Diablo 2 in that the sequel will build upon its predecessor in just about every way while not carrying anything over from the previous game.

  • Quantum Break has arrived in Steam
