#MGYMM – Donut County

Welcome to that time of the week where you’ve already binge-watched all the shows your eye holes can handle, and now are having an existential crisis about the trajectory of your life – Mobile Games You Mighta Missed. This week, we are looking to fill in the hole in our hearts with the charming and comical mishaps found in Donut County. Get your sweet teeths ready for some hole-some and punny content – Donut County is a refreshing and thrilling mix of absurd fun and simple mechanics fleshed out wonderfully.

Donut County, an extraordinarily cute, story-based physics puzzle game, mesmerized me before it was released, in part by creator Ben Esposito’s struggles with an iOS clone / knockoff of the game that closely reinterpreted Donut County’s main puzzle mechanics. After playing the game even for a few minutes, it’s clear that Donut County has a spirit and flair that could never be matched by any sort of rip-off. The heart of this game is pure fun, and everything about this game is uniquely charming, from the gorgeous color palette to the zany low-poly character designs to the crisp and cool music. It’s jam packed with small details that are sure to tickle your funnybone and appreciate the beauty in simplicity.

The full game is available on iOS, PC, Mac, and PS4, and after playing it on PS4 and iOS, I can solidly say that I really enjoyed the mobile experience of the game. It’s perfect for your underground subway commute or just kicking back and enjoying a relaxing moment on the throne. Short and sweet, Donut County provides an imaginative and intuitive experience sure to fill you up and make you feel hole.
