God of War Stuns in Reviews, Spyro Trilogy Remaster Announced, and More

PlayStation


  • Slime Rancher, a game I happen to love with no bounds, is now coming to PS4.

  • Insomniac announced PS4 exclusive Spider-Man will hit PS4 and PS4 Pro September 7. This is one game everyone here at Pixelrater are excited to play with Will being a PS4 primarily for the new web slinger’s adventure.

  • Sony partnered with Spotify a couple years ago after it shuddered it’s PlayStation Music service. Players can save 10% off their recurring Spotify membership so long as they sign up by October 18 and remain subscribed to both PlayStation Plus and Spotify.

  • The Witcher III has finally received it’s HDR patch for PS4 owners. The update also includes various bug fixes and performance optimizations.

  • PlayStation’s reboot of God of War has been received immensley well and has even earned perfect scores from outlets like IGN. At the time of writing, God of War holds a 94 on Metacritic based on 80 critic review scores.

Nintendo


  • Nintendo posted the requirements for trouble-free charging using third party USB-A to USB-C cables on their official FAQ from Nintendo of Japan. Those using a USB-A to USB-C charging cable should make sure it has a 56K OHM resistor.

  • According to Stardew Valley’s developer, ConcernedApe, the multiplayer update is in the final bug squashing stages and should be ready to go live in about a month. Will and I are pretty excited about that!

Xbox


  • Microsoft is running a huge Spring sale on the Xbox Store and have added add-on content like season passes. You have until Tuesday April 17 to grab what you want. I picked up South Park: Fractured But Whole and have zero regrets.

  • As promised, Microsoft announced a slew of new Xbox and Xbox 360 backwards compatible titles that can run on Xbox One and Xbox One X.

  • After the commercial success of Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy, Activision is bringing back another classic PlayStation-era character: Spyro the Dragon via the newly announced Spyro Reignited Trilogy coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Sept. 21. There’s no mention of a Switch version, but it’s clear this remake has been in the works for years, back before the platform was even announced. It’s only a matter of time before it hits Nintendo’s platform.

  • After IO Interactive went through a scare which lead to them buying back all the stocks for their company, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced their are now stepping in to take over publishing and distribution worldwide for Hitman, and will be the new publisher for the Definitive Edition, which brings with it PS4 Pro and Xbox One X enhancements.

    • Square Enix released the first patch for Chrono Trigger on Steam which enables playing the game with the original SNES graphics. The font has also been replaced to make it easier to read and the gigantic mobile menu boxes have been replaced with a more normal menu.
  • Developer Digital Sun Games announced that Moonlighter will arrive on May 29 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One for $19.99 with Switch coming later this year.

  • Valve added new privacy options that let Steam users decide how they’re viewed by the community. The update also hides players game libraries by default which breaks support for Steam Spy, a service that swept publicly viewable Steam profiles to estimate game sales.

  • FTC makes ‘warranty void if removed’ stickers illegal for electronics priced at $15 and above. This means your warranty can’t be voided if you remove the sticker on devices like you Xbox One or PS4.

  • Twin Galaxies has stripped Billy “King of Kong” Mitchell of his world records and have also informed the Guinness Book of World Records of their decision after concluding Mitchell used gameplay from an emulator to submit his scores.

  • Bungie announced Destiny 2’s next expansion is titled Warming and its set to launch May 9. The developer promised to show off the expansion and reveal new details during a stream on April 24.

Word on the Street


  • According to Game Reactor, Massive Entertainment, the team that worked on The Division and are toiling away at The Division 2, are planning to release a battle new royale game.

  • Splatoon 2’s “Octo” expansion is set to release this summer, and the official German Splatoon Facebook page might have leaked the release date. The Facebook page posted a teaser with a release date set for July 13, but it was quickly taken down. Which means it’s probably true.

  • Rumor has it that a Pokemon park will be added to Universal Studios Orlando. Following up on a report from Theme Park University blogger Josh Young, WFTV has also heard from “numerous sources inside Universal who say Pokemon is indeed coming to Universal Orlando.”
