PlayStation E3 2018 Roundup

The Last of Us Part II

Wow. The sequel to TLoU was intense. It was grim, dark, violent, and turned up to eleven. Ellie is older and has a girlfriend whom I’m sure we’ll get to know more about later in the game.

Call of Duty Black Ops

Sony made Black Ops III available for free on PS+ from June to July. Also, with Black Ops VI is changing up it’s DLC delivery method by instead opting for a “live season” of content instead of four separate expansion packs.

Ghost of Tsushima

We got a new gameplay trailer for Ghost of Tsushima. I have to say, we’ve come a long way with rendering foliage and lighting this gen compared to last. The game reminds of a ninja-based Uncharted. Still no release date.

Control

This is an intriguing new IP from Remedy and 505 Games. It’s a third person action title with telekinesis. I dig it. Just watch the trailer. She’s some kind modern day Jedi.

Resident Evil 2 Remake

We got a crazy new trailer for Resident Evil 2 from Capcom with a release date of January 25, 2019. It retains that signature RE style and looks as good as the first entry in the reboot. No word on a VR mode.

Trover Saves the Universe

We got a quirky funny trailer for a new VR game called Trover Saves the Universe. As someone who liked Accounting+’s over-the-top gameplay, I’m excited to play this. This is also from Rick and Morty’s co-creator. There’s no release date, but it will be available on PS4 and PSVR.

Kingdom Hearts III

I’ve talked about this for Square Enix’s conference, but more KH is never a bad thing. Especially when it looks this good. There’s also a limited edition KH-themed PS4 Pro that doesn’t look terrible. You’ll also be able to pick up a compilation that includes KH III, KH 1.5 Remix, KH 2.5 Remix, and KH HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. But only on PlayStation. Just watch the trailer above and stop reading this—but keep reading this when the trailer is over. Don’t go. Please. Stay with me. Forever.

Death Stranding

It’s still weird. It’s Kojima. But it looks incredible. We also got introduced to a female character who may play an important role in the story. Expect more questions than answers, which is a very good thing.

Nioh 2

Ninja Theory showed off a CG trailer for it’s sequel to Nioh.

Spider-Man

The new trailer for Spider-Man has done nothing but amped up our excitement for the new game from the talented team over at Insomiac. There’s a lot of villains who make an appearance and a lot of action. Gameplay looks fast and incredibly fluid with fantastic voice acting. This may be the game that dethrones Spider-Man 2 as the best game in the series.

Déraciné

Dark Souls and Bloodborne developer From Software is working on Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but now we know the studio is working on another new game called Déraciné, exclusive to PSVR and PS4. It’s not quite clear yet what sort of game Deracine is. The trailer above shows a slow-paced, sepia-toned wander through an older world before some life force brings a flower back to life as color returns.
